History
It was a chance meeting in July 1997 in Yangon that brought Brett Melzer and Khin Omar Win together. They established Southeast Asia’s first commercial hot air balloon operation in Myanmar — Balloons over Bagan. Over the past two decades, Balloons Over Bagan has grown from a single small balloon operation with eight crew, to a 19 balloon operation employing over 300 local staff and 25 foreign pilots and technicians.
Today, Memories Group Limited owns and manages the “Balloons Over Bagan” and “Balloons Over Inle” hot air balloon businesses in Myanmar.
In February 2021, Memories Group established Balloons Over Sigiriya in Sri Lanka, also known as the Emerald Island, taking tourists on an amazing aerial journey over one of the country’s most amazing sight, The Lion Rock of Sigiriya.
